The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement held their first-ever Celebration of Padre Pio on Saturday, September 24 at Graymoor, welcoming around 100 pilgrims to the Holy Mountain. Festivities included a Mass celebrated in Italian by Minister General Father Brian Terry, SA, and a blessing of the Friars’ new statue of St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina.

The fourth annual Paul Wattson Lecture will take place on Monday, October 10 at the James and Catherine Denny Center at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. The theme of this year’s lecture is “The Intersection Between Ecumenism and Justice.”

With more than 4,000 participants from over 352 churches, the World Council of Churches’ 11th annual assembly began on Wednesday, August 31.

Paul Lipowski, Ed.D. joined the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement at Graymoor as the organization's new Chief Charism Officer, starting August 29, 2022. A proven leader, Paul possesses a wealth of experience in Franciscan theology, religious education, strategic planning, recruitment and development, and in nonprofit management, among many areas of expertise.

On Sunday, September 25, St. Christopher’s Inn will hold its inaugural Be the Bridge: Walk for Recovery at the Walkway Over the Hudson State Park in Poughkeepsie.

St. John’s alumni from various classes attended a reunion, including past students from Father Emil’s graduating class of 1962. The weekend featured plenty of reminiscing, a tour of the Graymoor grounds and Mass at St. Francis Chapel, among other activities.

From October 7-9, the Graymoor Ecumenical and Interreligious Institute will hold its annual meeting for the North American Academy of Ecumenists. The conference will take place at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, and feature several discussions and panels.
