The Francsican Friars at the Francsican Monastery of the Holy Land in America have been hosting musical concerts for seven years. The Friars’ own Fr. Jim Gardiner, SA, played an important role in the genesis of the concerts, as noted in an earlier blog. The series has grown from humble beginnings to a highly respected production, drawing music lovers from the Washington, D.C. area to hear organ, brass and other instruments played for the glory of God.

The musicians come from a variety of backgrounds; this year’s series includes several Protestant organists, a ceremonial organist and a touring brass ensemble, Brass of Peace. Making use of the tremendous acoustics of the Cathedral, the musicians create a truly beautiful and spiritual experience.
