Vatican News featured an interview with Father Jim Puglisi, SA, centering on the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

As Christian believers from all walks of life united this month for the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Centro Pro Unione received press from a respected religious news source.

Vatican News, a Catholic news sharing website, featured an interview with Father Jim Puglisi, SA, the director of Centro Pro Unione – a ministry of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement and ecumenical and research and action center in Rome, Italy.

In the interview, Father Jim summarized this year’s celebration, which was themed, “We saw the star in the east, and we came to worship him.” Father Jim also spoke about Centro Pro Unione’s role in the ecumenical movement and described his hopes for expanded Christian unity in the future.

Father Jim is scheduled to attend an ecumenical celebration on Tuesday, January 25 at the Papal Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls. Pope Francis is set to preside over the ceremony.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity began in 1908 and was started by Father Paul Wattson, SA, and Mother Lurana White, SA, as the Church Unity Octave. It is now observed each year between January 18 and January 25.
