Celebrating 125 Years of Service

Join us in celebrating 125 years of serving God and His people.

From our humble beginnings in 1898 to now, the Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Atonement have been blessed to help foster unity between Christians, heal the brokenhearted and promote peace and harmony among all people, with the goal of ushering in that full At-One-Ment desired by Jesus.

Minister General, Rev. Brian F. Terry, SA, was interviewed for the November/December 2023 issue of Ecumenical Trends, where he reflected on the 125th Anniversary. He discussed the past, present and future of the Atonement Friars with Dr. Aaron Hollander, Editor of Ecumenical Trends. You can read the full interview by clicking the button below.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Our story starts not with a Catholic, but an Episcopalian priest and sister —  Servant of God Father Paul Wattson, SA, and Mother Lurana White, SA. Together, they founded The Society of the Atonement on Dec. 15, 1898. Little could they have imagined what amazing graces God had in store for them!
