Br. Jan Janoszka, Br. Alexander Reed ordained to the diaconate

Brother Jan Janoszka, SA, and Brother Alexander Reed, SA, were ordained to the diaconate on Sunday, October 15.

Their ordination took place during 11 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of the Atonement Chapel, which was celebrated by His Excellency, Bishop Gerardo Colacicco.

Brother Jan, a native of Piekary Śląskie, Poland, professed his final vows as a Friar of the Atonement on January 22, 2023. He began the formation program with the Friars of the Atonement in Rome, in February 2019, after leaving his ministry at Saint Anselm’s Catholic Church in Southall, London, England.

Between 2009 and 2018, he collaborated with many faith-based and secular organizations in London. Brother Jan formed part of the multi-faith leadership team that engaged local Sikh, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian communities in activities promoting community cohesion, reconciliation, and healing. He also served poor, immigrant, and refugee communities in Liverpool, England; Tijuana, Mexico; Kolkata, India; and Ceuta, North Africa.

After professing his first vows as an Atonement Friar in Assisi, in February of 2020, Brother Jan completed his S.T.L. degree in theology with specialization in ecumenism and interreligious dialogue at the Angelicum, Rome, in February 2023. Brother Jan also spent time with the Friars’ community in Lima, Peru.

Brother Alexander made his first profession as a Franciscan Friar of the Atonement on June 6, 2022 at St. Christopher’s Inn, on the Graymoor campus. A native of Providencia, Santiago, Chile, Brother Reed studied at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Buenos Aires, Argentina, earning his first Theology degree after six years. He then returned to Chile and later became a Franciscan. He previously belonged to the community of Hermanos Franciscanos de la Providencia. Currently, Brother Alexander is in ministry at St. Christopher’s Inn.
