Since his time serving on the staff of St. Joseph’s Church in Greenwich Village, Fr. Jim Gardiner, SA, has been on the Board for VillageCare of New York, a neighborhood-based healthcare organization that specializes in helping the frail and elderly as well as persons living with HIV-AIDS. This year, at an event that approximately 400 people attended, Fr. Jim was recognized with the annual award “Legends of the Village” for his service to those living with HIV-AIDS.  Also honored were Andy Cohen, the Emmy Award-winning TV host and producer, and Yggers Mortensen, publisher and CEO of Metro Newspapers.

Father Gardiner is currently director of special projects at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America, chair of the Washington Archdiocesan Holy Land Committee, regional representative for the Catholic Association of Diocesan Ecumenical and Interreligious Officers, and vice president of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the Religion Communicators Council. He is also on the board of Franciscan Mission Service.
