“Saint Carlo Acutis – a modern witness of faith and love for the Eucharist.”

On September 7, the universal Church rejoices as Blessed Carlo Acutis is declared a saint. His radiant witness reminds us that holiness is not reserved for the past but is alive and accessible in every generation. With creativity and faith, Carlo used the tools of modern communication to bring Christ to others, offering his life as a testimony that “the Eucharist is my highway to Heaven.”

For the Friars of the Atonement, this moment resonates deeply with the vision of our founder, Servant of God Father Paul Wattson, SA, who in his own time pioneered the use of print, radio, and media for evangelization. Father Paul wrote: “Every means of communication should be pressed into the service of Christ, that all may come to know Him in truth and love” (Paul Wattson, The Lamp). Both Carlo and Father Paul remind us that the Gospel must be proclaimed with the tools of the day, always with a heart burning for unity in Christ.

United in Christ, Inspired by Saints

Saint Carlo Acutis, recently canonized, is remembered for his profound devotion to the Eucharist and his inspiring witness of faith at a young age.

As Pope Leo XIV has invited the Church to remember in his motto, “In the one Christ we are one,” today we ask the intercession of Saint Carlo Acutis and Father Paul Wattson, that the Church may find ever new ways of witness, creativity, and unity. May their example inspire us to live with courage, to proclaim the Gospel with joy, and to work tirelessly so that all may be one in Christ.

Prayer

Loving God,
You raised up Saint Carlo Acutis and Father Paul Wattson as witnesses to the power of faith and the creativity of love. Through their intercession, grant us the courage to use every gift of our age for the sake of the Gospel. May we live and work for the unity of all your children, so that, in Christ, we may truly be one.
Amen.
