On May 13-14, GEII Executive Director Dr. Aaron Hollander joined the National Council of Churches Governing Board in Washington DC, for a packed ecumenical worship service at Lomax AME Zion Church and a Theological Symposium on the Current State of Ecumenism.

As one of a small group of invited speakers to address the NCC board on a topic of urgent contemporary significance for the ecumenical field, Dr. Hollander spoke on “The Ancient Future of Ecumenical Spirituality,” appealing to national church leaders that the treasury of early Christian spiritual practices can provide means and guidance for realigning our hearts and uprooting toxic habits of perceiving and relating to those with whom we disagree.

Dr. Hollander’s address to the NCC Governing Board will appear, expanded to article length, as an editorial in an upcoming issue of Ecumenical Trends.
