GARRISON, NY — The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement will gather at the Holy Mountain at Graymoor on February 6, 2026, to witness and prayerfully mark the installation of Archbishop Ronald A. Hicks as the new Archbishop of New York, following his appointment by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.
Archbishop Hicks, formerly Bishop of Joliet, Illinois, succeeds Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan, who has served as Archbishop of New York since 2009. Archbishop Hicks becomes the 14th Bishop and 11th Archbishop of the See of New York. His pastoral leadership has been shaped by a deep commitment to human dignity, particularly during a formative five-year period beginning in 2005 when he served in El Salvador as a regional director for an orphanage network serving children across Latin America—an experience widely regarded as central to his ministry.
In the spirit of prayer, Franciscan hospitality and reflection, the Friars will host a watch party for the installation Mass livestreamed from Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, inviting members of the local community to gather together for this significant moment in the life of the Archdiocese.
