Some time ago, a magazine ran a story about a teenager who belongs to the Santa Clara swimming club. Every morning she gets up at 5:30 am to hurry to an outdoor pool for two solid hours of swimming, after which, she goes to school.

When Jesus interpreted the parable of the weeds, He talked about the world with good and evil people and He specified that the task of weeding questionable people out of the community was not part of the disciple’s job description.

Today, we have a sower who went out to sow seeds, according to the parable, not very carefully. He tosses the seeds wildly, helter-skelter.

What a wonderful gospel we have today. “Come to me all you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will refresh you.

A man by the name of Clarence Jordan published what became known as the cotton patch version of the New Testament in the 1950s-60s.

Our gospel tells us today do not let anyone intimidate you. Do not be afraid of anything. Sounds wonderful, but what is the reality?

Today is Trinity Sunday; our faith tells us there is but one God. In the one God, there are three persons-Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

Many of us know friends who are generous, perhaps impulsive or unpredictable. They can be extremely loyal but a bit of a “coward” so that you can’t always depend on them.
