We find ourselves once again in the season of Lent. It is a time traditionally marked by prayer, fasting and honest self-examination. It is a season that gently, but firmly, invites us to ask some important questions.

GEII Executive Director, Dr. Aaron Hollander, was invited to three northeastern colleges in February, where he offered lectures and led workshops with graduate students and university faculty.

Attendees at Friday’s Installation Mass of Ronald A. Hicks expressed joy and inspiration at witnessing him become the 11th archbishop of the Archdiocese of New York, with the special afternoon proceedings occurring at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

The 2026 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity arrived this year with a grace-filled convergence. As Christians across the world lifted their hearts in prayer from January 18–25, the Church stood at the threshold of a Franciscan Jubilee Year, proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV to mark 800 year transitus of St. Francis of Assisi.

Wednesday, October 4th, marks the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. This popular saint committed more than his fair share of sin, sought nobility, honor, and material wealth in his younger years, and took a fairly long time to repent and give his life to Christ.

On January 31, 2026, the Friars hosted a candlelight concert at Our Lady of the Atonement Chapel, at Graymoor featuring violinist Daisy Jopling, pianist Alex Smith, and trumpeter Eganam ÉGO Segbefia.

When Pope Leo XIV was introduced to the world last spring as our new Holy Father, his first words set a clear and hopeful tone. He expressed immediate gratitude for his predecessor, Pope Francis, who represented the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi so beautifully during his papacy.

The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement will host a watch party at Graymoor on February 6, 2026, for the installation of Archbishop Ronald A. Hicks as Archbishop of New York
