As a Franciscan Friar of the Atonement, life can look very different from year to year, depending on the ministry one serves in.
Some of our Friars serve at St. Christopher’s Inn, helping men overcome alcohol and substance addictions. Some Friars work in local parishes, offering Mass and ministering to parishioners. Others facilitate presentations, group discussions, and activities for the many retreats held at Graymoor in Garrison, NY each year. Still more work building bridges through ecumenical and interreligious dialogue.
Regardless of their particular ministry or location, however, all Friars spend their days serving as the hands and feet of Jesus. They are all committed to the cause of unity - unity with God, with others, and within oneself. In this, they follow in the footsteps of Christ who prayed to His Father “that all may be one” (John 17:21).
Their daily schedule is a mix of praying, working, building relationships, and serving others - it is a full life!
