Through the Centro Pro Unione in Rome, the Friars are delving deeper into an emerging ecumenical category known as “Mutual Accountability” through an initiative dubbed “MAD for Ecumenism (Mutual Accountability Desk)”.

“I very much enjoyed the time with the Brothers Christopher, time to be alone in nature, and I greatly enjoyed the conversations with the Friars.  Fr. Brian and Fr. Jim had perspectives and knowledge that were very useful and helpful,” commented Michael H. of Manhattan, one of three men who participated in the Friars’ October 18-21 “Come & Discern Vocation Retreat.”  Philip Santiano from Boston area and Ian T. from southern New Jersey were the other participants.

Dr. Eboo Patel spoke at the 2018 Paul Wattson Lecture, held at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago on October 3, 2018. More than just addressing the similarities and differences of different religions, he spoke of the encounters between the people professing different faiths.

In honor of the Centro Pro Unione’s 50th anniversary, the Friars will host the 21st annual conference in recognition of Servant of God Paul Wattson and Mother Lurana White. This year’s conference will recognize the 800th anniversary of the meeting of St. Francis and the Egyptian Sultan with the theme “St. Francis and the Sultan - Foundations for Christian-Muslim Dialogue in the 21st Century.”

The Friars recognize that discovering one’s vocation is not usually as simple as asking God’s will for your life and hearing a direct, clear answer immediately in one’s heart. Very often, it’s a process, a conversation between an individual and God, sometimes over the course of a number of years.
