The people of Puerto Rico have a warm spirit and enjoy sharing their homes, food, and culture. Unfortunately, so many are still affected from Hurricanes Irma and Maria that they remain in desperate need of basics such as clean water, food, and shelter. The very heart of Puerto Rican culture is struggling to recover from these devastating natural disasters.
There is almost nothing as fulfilling as serving the poor on a mission trip and building relationships while restoring a monastery. Come to Puerto Rico this December 29, 2019-January 11, 2020 and discover the beauty of service, hard work, and the determined spirit of the Puerto Rican people.
The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement have a ministry in Puerto Rico that offers services to those in need. Our goal is to work together (through manual labor such as painting) to improve conditions for the souls we serve on a regular basis.
In addition to serving through work, participants will have an opportunity to discern the priesthood and religious life. Learn about the Franciscan charism, brotherhood, and God’s call in your life through prayer and meeting Friars who have discerned their vocation.
We welcome young men, ages 18 through 40, to apply for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
