Is God Calling You to a Religious Vocation? Find Out at the "House of Discernment"

For more than 100 years, the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement have lived according to the charisms of St. Francis of Assisi. They practice acts of charity, which include sheltering the homeless, healing men who struggle with addiction, and serving those who are sick.

But what sets the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement apart from other religious orders in many ways is their dedication to ecumenical and interreligious dialogue. The Friars are uniquely devoted to promoting dialogue within the whole of Christianity and between all religions.

This focus has been at the core since their founding. In fact, the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement are responsible for such well-known ecumenical efforts as the Octave of Christian Unity, now known as the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

If this charism of ecumenism and interreligious dialogue is something you're also passionate about, then consider planning a stay at our new House of Discernment. Single men with an interest in discerning the religious life are free to spend up to one year at our brownstone in New York City, sharing in the prayer and communal life of the Friars while discerning God's plan for their lives.
