ReCreation Day – Kayaking
Sunday, June 12, 2022 @ 10:00 am EDT
Event Navigation

This leisurely day affords an opportunity for beginners and experienced paddlers to enjoy the magnificent Hudson River and serenity of Constitution Marsh. Afternoon affords the option of additional kayaking or strolling through the adjoining West Point Foundry Park. As we fully experience the spirit of nature and the culture of the Hudson River valley, we shall share meditations, social interaction, and appreciate our healthy beings. No previous paddling experience is required. If raining or windy, a Hudson Highlands hike will be offered instead. Kayak rental is $70. Donation for retreat day is $30.
Bring whatever you typically bring to the beach: sunscreen, sunglasses, synthetic shirt, towel, hydration, a warm change of clothes, even a rain jacket just in case. October weather can vary, so dress accordingly. Also cycling gloves mitigate friction on your palms while paddling.
This outing is led by Skip Doyle (OutdoorSkipper.com) – a New York State licensed guide, American Canoe Association certified, outdoor instructor for two national outfitters (REI, LL Bean), and has a decade of experience leading outdoor retreats for Holy Mountain / Graymoor.
