Our Beloved St. Anthony
Greetings from Fr. Bob ...
There is always a great deal of activity at Graymoor during June as we celebrate the Feast of St. Anthony. Thousands of people will come on June 14th to this Holy Mountain for a day of prayer and pilgrimage in honor of St. Anthony.
People come seeking the intercession of St. Anthony, asking him to pray for their intentions before the throne of God. Some come seeking miracles; others come to give thanks for favors received. Some people carry photographs of sick relatives, some bring flowers and others just pray for their family's needs. I see many of the same people year after year because of the faith they have in St. Anthony's intercession.
St. Anthony has long been recognized as the finder of lost articles. He is called the "Miracle Worker" and that is because he seems to answer so many requests. He is also the patron saint of Haiti, and thousands of Haitians flock to Graymoor to celebrate his feast each year.
St. Anthony is not only the patron saint of finding lost articles. He is also a Doctor of the Church and recognized as a great preacher.
He reached out and worked with the poor and those who did not yet believe in the Lord Jesus. As such, he serves as a model to the Friars of the type of men we strive to be.
In the words of St. Bonaventure, "Saint Anthony possessed the science of the angels, the faith of the patriarchs, the foreknowledge of the prophets, the zeal of the apostles and the heroism of the martyrs."

CARDINAL DOLAN HONORED AT ST. CHRISTOPHER'S INN ANNUAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS DINNER
At the 11th annual St. Christopher's Inn Board of Directors Dinner at Gotham Hall in New York City, Cardinal Timothy Dolan was honored.
Speaking from his first-hand knowledge from his visits to St. Christopher's Inn in a moving speech at the dinner, he compared the shelter's effort to rehabilitate the chemically dependent men, who were considered 'dead', 'spiritually and morally dead', to Jesus raising Lazarus. He talked about the Inn and spiritual struggles in his interview that appeared on Fox and Friends the next morning. The dinner's honorary chairs were Elizabeth & Roger Ailes and the Masters of Ceremonies were Greg Kelly & Rosanna Scotto, Co-Hosts of Good Day New York.

GRAYMOOR YOUTH DAY — WAKE UP THE WORLD!
Do you know what God is asking you to do? Listening to God's call is the theme for Graymoor Youth Day on July 11, 2015.
As part of the Year of Consecrated Life, we invite Catholic young adults ages 16-29 to come to Graymoor, meet the Friars and Sisters of the Atonement, and celebrate a day of prayer, thanksgiving and pilgrimage. Full Armor Band will provide musical inspiration for that day. Youth groups and individuals attending are being asked to conduct a food drive to donate to the homeless at Graymoor and bring the food with them that day. There is still time for early registration before June 15. The $15 registration fee will be used to support St. Bridget's School in Nairobi, Kenya.

IRON FRIAR TO RUN 20TH TRIATHALON
When Fr. Dan Callahan, SA, is not busy with his pastoral duties at St. Joan of Arc in Toronto, or working on projects and attending meetings as 4th Councilor for the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement General Council, he is training for his next triathalon to take place on July 26th, in the place where it all began for him, Lake Placid, NY. Last year, Fr. Callahan completed the Mt. Tremblant, Quebec, Ironman in 16 hours, 16 minutes and 56, seconds.
Last year, nearly 2,000 competed in Lake Placid's Ironman Race... a race that captures both the beauty and the challenges of the area, and the sport. Fr. Callahan will swim 2.4 miles in Mirror Lake, take a challenging 112 mile bike ride through the Adirondack Mountains and run an equally challenging 26.2 marathon race. It is a pre-marathon tradition for Fr. Callahan to offer Mass for the tri-athletes before the race.
Fr. Callahan considers his arduous training to be a great place to pray and be open to the Lord, and he raises money each year to support the ministries of the Friars. Cheer him on and support his 20th run.
