THE HOLY MOUNTAIN — FINDING HEALING Yes, Lent is just around the corner. It will begin on Ash Wednesday, February 22nd. As we look around our world, we still see turmoil, strife and many difficulties at home from unemployment to people losing their homes. These are not easy times for many people. So let us take time during the holy season of Lent to pause and take stock of our lives and rethink our values. Perhaps, we need to take to heart the motto that we put on our money – "In God We Trust". It is just a confident expectation that no matter what happens now or in the future, God will be here for us. A story is told of the man who returned home to find his house ablaze. His terrified wife was standing outside pointing up to a window where their son was crying. His father shouted up to him, "Jump son, jump. I will catch you." The boy cried, "But Daddy, I can't see you." "I know", his father answered, "I know, but I can see you." As Christians we know that we do not go through our trials and tribulations alone. God sees us. God knows our name. Lent is a good time to renew our trust and confidence in a loving God and we can say with the psalmist, "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I feel no evil for You are with me." (Ps 23.4) Yours in Christ, The 2012 Week of Prayer at Graymoor was a joyful time with great weather good attendance at events and a marvelous variety of guest speakers from several different Christian Denominations reflecting on the theme: “We Will All Be Changed by the Victory of Jesus Christ” (cf. 1 Corinthians 15: 51-58). We are thankful for all that attended these events and are proud to share with you several transcripts from some of the renowned speakers who participated in the week's events. The XXXII Paul Wattson Lecture and Dinner will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM at the University of San Francisco, Room: McLaren 252.
