On Sunday, September 30, close to 500 of our neighbors, including Friars, Sisters and staff from St. Christopher’s Inn and FOA participated in the 3rd Annual “Be the Bridge: Walk for Recovery” in Poughkeepsie, NY. The day was a resounding success by all accounts—raising not only awareness on the importance of recovery and healing from the disease of addiction—the event also raised over $81,000—exceeding our goal of $75,000!
The crowd enjoyed music, facepainting, prizes and balloon art – not to mention a special and inspiring musical performance by Daisy Joplin Jopling, our first ever Grand Marshal!
Participants walked across the pathway at their own pace, drawing a parallel to the pace it takes each person on their path to recovery. Purple was seen across the crowds as it is the official color for National Recovery Month which takes place annually in September.
