Friars of the Atonement to Make Annual Pilgrimmage to Grave
of the 'Miser of Waterbury'
Garrison, NY, On Monday, February 25, the Franciscan
Friars and Sisters of the Atonement will make their annual pilgrimage
to the grave of John Reid who died on his 82nd birthday on January
30, 1922 without a penny to his name. Known amongst his townsmen
as the 'Miser of Waterbury', John Reid was a dairy farmer who
spent the minimum on self so that he could donate the maximum
to missionaries around the world, a philosophy in keeping with
the Union That Nothing Be Lost (UNBL) an organization founded
by Fr. Paul Wattson, SA (1863-1940).

Friars of the Atonement- Graymoor to Celebrate St. Patrick's
Day with Traditional Dinner

NY, March 3, 2008 In celebration of St. Patrick's
Day, the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement will host a Corned
Beef and Cabbage Dinner on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 12:30PM
in the Friars' Dining Room (fifth floor of the Graymoor Spiritual
Life Center), following the 11AM Mass in Pilgrim Hall. Cost
is $10 for adults, $5 for children, children under 6 free. Reservations
requested by Wednesday, March 12th; please call the Graymoor

Friars of the Atonement to Host Retreat for Sponsors in 12-Steps

Garrison, NY, February 27, 2008 A psychologist and
a psychiatrist who serve clients at St. Christopher's Inn, a homeless
shelter and substance abuse treatment center operated by the Franciscan
Friars of the Atonement, will lead a special weekend retreat for
sponsors on Friday, March 7 through Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the
Graymoor Spiritual Life Center.

present the Paul Wattson Christian Unity Award jointly to the
Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and the Faith
and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches during the
annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity observance at the Centro
Pro Unione, the friars' ecumenical research center located on
the Piazza Navona in Rome, Italy.
