The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement will join the Archdiocese of New York in celebrating Recovery Sunday on September 12, 2010 as part of National Alcohol and Drug Recovery Month.
Recovery Sunday emphasizes that addiction is a medical illness, treatment is effective, and recovery possible. This year’s theme is “Now More Than Ever.” Graymoor is home to the Graymoor Spiritual Life Center which hosts AA, NA, Al-Anon, and Recovery International Meetings. It also offers Matt Talbot and Dan Egan retreats for those recovering from alcohol and drug addictions. St.Christopher’s Inn, a residential shelter and substance abuse treatment center for men in crises is also located here. On September 12, Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m in Pilgrim Hall. Recovery Sunday is open to all people who are seeking help or information on addiction for themselves, a family member, or a friend.
